House soft washing in Howard County, MD

Siding turns green on the shaded sides of a house first, usually north facing walls and spots under trees or near downspouts. That green is algae and mildew. It does not wash off in the rain, and it spreads. Studs With Suds offers house soft washing and low pressure siding cleaning in Howard County, Maryland, including Cooksville, Columbia, Ellicott City and Clarksville, to remove that buildup.

Why we soft wash siding

Vinyl, brick, stucco and painted wood do not all take the same treatment. Soft washing uses low pressure and a cleaning mix so we are not blasting water into seams, behind siding or at old paint.

What’s included

Our standard house soft wash package includes removing organics, dirt, grime, debris and spider webs from the face of the gutters, soffits, fascia, trim, siding or brick, exterior of windows, doors, foundation and front porch.

Getting your home clean is the easy part. Protecting your property while we’re on site is where we really shine! We take the appropriate steps to help protect your plants and electrical components.

How the job goes

  • We walk around the house and look for things that need care, such as loose siding, open windows, outlets and plants.
  • We cover or wet what needs protecting.
  • We apply the cleaning mix to the house and let it work.
  • While the mix is working, we rinse the plants again.
  • We rinse the home from the top down and clean up.

How often

Many houses need washing every year. Shaded sides and houses near trees go green faster.

Good timing

The timing is up to you! We generally recommend house washing about once a year. How quickly buildup returns depends on the shade, trees and conditions around your home. If you have a get together planned at home, consider having the work done closer to it. Otherwise, wash when you want to. The dirt and organics won’t hide from you.

Questions we hear

Will pressure washing damage my siding?

We do not blast siding. We soft wash it.

Do I need to be home?

No one needs to be home. We need the windows shut, exterior lights off, water access and the work areas cleared.

Do you wash the roof too?

Yes. Many customers have the house and roof cleaned together, but they are separate services. Tell us if more than one area needs cleaning and we will quote the whole job.

Add roof soft washing to your house wash

Low pressure house soft washing cleans the siding, not the roof. Many customers book roof soft washing and house washing together. If you see dark streaks on the shingles, include a roof photo with your house washing request so we can quote the two services together.

We recommend roof washing every 3 to 5 years. That is the roof interval, not a house washing schedule.
